A COMMUNITY group fundraised Bollywood style, raising more than £800 for Bolton Hospice.

Sakhi Group hosted the Strictly Bollywood event, which saw more than 400 people let down their hair to experience traditional Indian dancing.

Event was hosted by Andy from Bolton FM and Monica Ballani, and saw a dance off featuring Miss Bolton and Miss Bury, which was choreographed by Angie Devi.

Youngsters from various temples across Bolton performed dances, and members of the public joined the Bollywood extravaganza, which took place at The Market Place shopping centre.

Urvashi Tulsidas from Sakhi Group said: "The event was a huge success. We raised more than £800 for a really good local cause.

"About 400 people from different communities, ages and ethnicity had a fantastic experience of Bollywood. They all thoroughly enjoyed the event and would like to see more of these events in future."

The group's next event is a Bollywood dinner and dance this Saturday at Bolton Indian Sports Club in Hacken Lane. For tickets, which cost £15, contact 07946 703274.
