The 14th annual Health Mela will take place in Preston later this month.

The event is held this year by courtesy of the University of Central Lancashire in the centrally placed Foster Building adjacent to Corporation Street.

Admission is free and there is free parking available on all the University car parks.

This popular annual event is bigger and better than ever in 2015, with over 70 health related stalls providing a comprehensive range of information and advice on individual and family health and how to improve and enhance it.

A comprehensive range of health checks is on offer ranging from cholesterol level to body mass index, blood glucose and hearing, all backed up by friendly professional counselling.

A special feature of the Mela this year is the opportunity to meet and talk over a cup of tea or coffee to Governors of the Royal Preston Hospital about their role and the work of the hospital.

The Health Mela includes entertainment, the opportunity to sample complementary therapies such as Reiki and Acupuncture and activities for the children ranging from competitions and quizzes through to the chance to make a fruit drink on the ever popular Smoothie Bike.

The Mela will be opened by Dr Lance Sandle, Vice President of the Royal College of Pathologists and is supported by local NHS organisations including the Hospital and Care Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups, and the North West Ambulance Service and also by Rotary International and a wide range of voluntary organisations from across the North West.

The Community Health Fair for all the family - takes place on Saturday April 18th from 11 am and 4pm.
