Members of the Abu Hanifah Football Club and Scouts club set up a spontaneous online Snowman competition.

Within an hour of announcing the competition on the Clubs social media accounts, entries began to pour in. Children from the football club and AHF’s scouts group uploaded a wonderful array of snowmen including a snowman built on the roof of a car. Carrots proved to be a popular choice for the nose and many of the snowmen were dressed up with hats and jackets.

Amongst the most liked snowmen was Snowaldo who is pictured taking a penalty and Snow Gryll’s who can be seen dancing in the snow with her mop hair and lemon eyes.

A Club spokesman said “With over 100 likes already on Facebook for the 7 finalists it's amazing how such a simple competition can attract so much interest in such a short period of time. We really enjoyed going through all the entries and were massively impressed by the quality of snowmen built by the kids!”

Parent Bilkis Bax said “With the kids being stuck indoors, the competition was a fantastic way to keep them occupied. My girls had a wonderful time making their snowman and seeing it posted on the Clubs Facebook page with people liking it and talking about it made their day and mine!”

The Club shortlisted seven snowmen and set up a poll on their Facebook page to choose the overall winner.

The top three snowmen will receive a Nike football and the overall winner will receive a handmade Turkish winter blanket courtesy of family owned business Penny Profits.

The father of eventual winner Hamzah Patel said “Congratulation to everyone as it’s not about the winning, but taking part.

"I remember the words of coach Zuber from Abu Hanifa who said the coach spends about 40 hours a year with the child, whereas the parents spend over 40 hours a week and the emphasis he made on parenting. It’s important for us parents to become the correct role models and support our children as they are the future generation“ To see all Snowmen in their full glory visit the AHF FC Facebook page http://bit.ly/snowvote or use the hashtag #ahffcsnow
