POLICE have named the boy who died following a road traffic collision in Gilpin Street, Barkerend, Bradford, on Friday morning.

Saliq Amjad Malik, aged 15, from the BD2 area of Bradford, died after the Volkswagen Golf GTI he was a passenger in collided with a wall and a telegraph pole at around 11.04am.

Another 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in the collision, but these are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 17-year-old boy, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for the occupants of a purple or maroon Peugeot, who they believe may have seen the red Volkswagen Golf GTI shortly before the collision, to contact them on 101.
