More than 30 young people and seven leaders have been invested into the Scout movement after the launch of a new group based at the Madinah mosque in Keighley.

The ceremony, which also included the blessing, in Arabic and English, of section flags, was well attended by parents, civic guests, councillors and Scouting representatives.

A spokesman said: “The group – while primarily for boys and girls from the Muslim faith – is open to all young people from the nearby catchment area and will be a great asset to the whole community.”

Meetings are held on Sundays from 3.30pm.
