A Lancashire based education charity has launched a national campaign to support thousands of families affected by the floods and the weather in the South West and other parts of the country.

Tauheedul Relief Trust is working closely with schools and organisations to raise funds for families affected by the weather conditions.

Launching the campaign, the Chief Executive of the Tauheedul Trust, Mufti Hamid Patel said: “Thousands of people have been affected as a result of the floods and severe weather over the past few weeks.

"Power to thousands of homes has been cut off and transport has been disrupted by the hurricane-force winds.

"The assistant chief of the defence staff has described the situation an “almost unparalleled natural crisis.”

“We are working closely with the British Red Cross and local organisations to respond quickly and provide support to the affected families.

"This is part of our campaign to support homeless people in the UK who face an isolating and destructive experience. We request all communities to come together and support our neighbours in need.”
