The Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) in the UK and Eire has congratulated Muslim students who attended the NUS Annual Conference 2008.
Faisal Hanjra, spokesman for FOSIS, said, "Muslim students once again positively engaged around issues affecting over seven million students in higher and further education.
"Their votes were pivotal in the outcome of discussions around the future of the structure of the National Union of Students and positive policy was passed mandating the NUS to address serious concerns around spying on university campuses."

"The conference was a great example of democratic participation on the part of Muslim students and it sent a clear message to those who claim that Muslims are not engaged with wider society."
"FOSIS congratulates everyone elected onto the new national executive committee and wishes the outgoing office bearers the very best for the future."
