HOLY FEAST: The procession in Accrington Road, Blackburn
AN annual march took place yesterday to celebrate the birth of a holy Muslim prophet.
The Holy March, or Eid Milad-un-Nabi, attracted followers from across East Lancashire to Blackburn, where a procession wound through the town, before finishing with talks into the evening.
The event is celebrated across the world, and is traditionally a time for religious scholars to give speeches on the life of the prophet.
Feasts are also prepared, and traditionally food is given to the poor.
It is thought that Blackburn's is the longest running annual Milad procession in the UK.
The procession has been staged in the town for more than 20 years.

Is there anything in the Qur'aan or from hadith (strong hadith) that we should celebrate the Prophet's birthday via a march or even if we should be celebrating birthdays at all? If you declare sincere love for the Prophet why not adhere to the sunnats?

Where in Islam does it state Muslims cannot march and enlighten others about the life of Prophet Mohammed PBUH!
Your view is probably due to you being a najdi/salafi, which is a corrupt sect that instills wrong and negative attitudes that are Un-Islamic (Non-Sunnah)!
Where in Islam does it specify that terrorism as practiced by najdis/salafis is allowed?
These marches are held around many parts of the country and the ones in London like many other places seem to be grown in numbers every year. True Love not hatred and ignorance brings these people out of there homes to acknowledge and participate in peaceful events as such!
Good day to you [bold]Confused[/bold].

Dress like the Prophet (PBUH), eat like the Prophet, live a life shown by the beloved Prophet, TALK like the Prophet.
Surely this is a better way of educating others about our beloved Prophet on a daliy basis? rather than a one off march full of youths with a number one on side and four on top hair style lol? disrupting people?
p.s do you have a beard? And I think you totally missed out the whole concept of birthdays? If we were allowed to celebrate them then wouldn't our Prophet done this himself and march the streets of Makkah and Madnina with the sahaaba's? Islam is not a contemporary religion.
If you are so eager to march, why don't you spend four months via foot?

First and foremost this was never an argument, I was searching for an answer. Probably your school boy mentality which got the better of you for the desire to [bold]WIN[/bold]. If it makes you happy and content then I wave my white flag and accept defeat.
Seems you never read my initial posting, please see my quote "..that we should celebrate the Prophet's birthday via a march or even if we should be celebrating birthdays at all?.."
Its amazing when you read over things twice before pulling the trigger.
Its a case of brain in neutral and fingers typing in 5th gear.

the prophet muhhammad(pbuh)was born on the same day and died on the same day years later.one of these the reasons why god made this this happen because god didnt want anyone to celebrate his birthday.by one doing this he/she is also celebrating his death day..what a shame..god save us from this.

A.A.W.W. Muslims, stop bickering like this. I believe what Shireen says, the prophet PBUH did pass away accor..to stated terms in hadith but he remains alive to listen to our durood shareef etc. Anyway, at the end of the day we are all muslims and may Allah guide all of us to the utmost correct way. Milaad is not a graet way of celebrating because it just causes more foul and critical comments to be said about Islam and our prophet by the non-muslims. Show your love by praying to him in seclusion and by practising his ways- THIS INCLUDES HOW ONE MUSLIM APPROACHES AND SPEAKS WITH OTHERS, WHETHER THEY ARE MUSLIM OR NOT!!

Hi Fred. :)
As a Muslim, i'm not surprised by what you've seen. You might be surprised, but many Muslims are also sad at the state of so called 'Muslims' who do many acts which are contrary to the religion in nearly every way.
Anyway, i want you to check out this link and try to understand what true Islam is about, and how it DOES help people for the better.

Islam isn't about getting everything for ones self, its about sharing it with the rest of humanity.

I see my comment was removed by the LET!!!
It seems that any comments that slightly critisise the Muslims in this Town are removed!!!
Thus the true reflection on peoples feelings on this matter are disregarded and Muslims are lead into a false sense that they are liked because they don't get to see the comments off White Christian Brits who are sick of living with Muslims!!!

A march like this is an acknowledgment about life. No body celebrates death in Islam and certainly not the passing away of The Prophet pbuh? This clearly is a distorted and corrupt view that the deo-wahabi salafi-najdi use for their own means and purposes!
If one has nothing good to say, say nothing!

Is there anything from Quraan or Sunnah someone asked for celebrating the Prophet's (May peace be upon Him) birthday? Answer of course! for starters the Prophet (May peace be upon Him) would fast every Monday, when asked why, he said because he was born on a Monday..so each and every week he would celebrate his own birthday- check the books brothers and sisters!!
