Brian Paddick, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary has responded after reports from police that the number of hate crimes has doubled in Greater Manchester since the terrorist attack.
Brian Paddick, said:“The overwhelming majority of people have responded with incredible compassion and warmth, recognising that we defeat terror by standing together as a community.
“It is a real credit to the people of Manchester that there has been such calm since the atrocity, enabling families to grieve and the police carry out their investigation.
“But this report should serve as a reminder to parties not to politicise these events for narrow electoral advantage: the cohesion of the United Kingdom is far more important.”
