Record breakers and charity workers are amongst the finalists at this year’s Fusion Awards.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday May 26. The nomination process again saw a high calibre of entries from across the North West.

They are open to all regardless of culture, background or religion, and are sponsored by Asian Image Among the finalists this is Sri Guru Gobind Singh Temple which is nominated in the community group of the year category. They are featured alongside the One Voice Community Gospel choir of Preston and Ermine Healthy Communities Partnership.

The Woman of the Year category features community workers Joyce Plummer, Rukeya Sidat and Farah Ayub.

The Man of the year Category features retired youth worker Mohammad Habeebullah of Rochdale and charity fundraiser Hussain Master of Preston.

The Community Cohesion award features Sylvia Lancaster who set-up the Sophie Lancaster foundation after her daughter was murdered and community volunteer Dawn Boothby.

This year there will also be a special Young Neighbourhood Champion award and a Young Enterprise champion award.

The recipient of the Uclan Education Award will be presented on the night as will the Mumtaz Ellahi Community Sports Organiser award and the achievement in sport award.
