TEENAGE boxer Sahir Iqbal has proved himself a knockout in the ring!

For the 14-year-old Bury Amateur Boxing Club youngster was feted at a ceremony to celebrate unsung heroes and their contribution to local communities in the North West.

Sahir won the Achievement in Sport accolade at the Fusion Awards 2010 held at Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park.

He took up boxing when he was 11 and last year he clinched the national schoolboy championships and this year won a Three Nations title. Representing England, Sahir beat two Scottish opponents to take the gold medal and he has just won a silver medal in the European Schoolboy Championships held in Bulgaria.
