Dr Mounir Hakimi a doctor who has assisted hundreds in the Syrian conflict. He was honoured with the Drakes Eye Care sponsored Man of the Year Award.

Despite the dangers Dr Hakimi aged 37 has also helped to organise visits for other specialists in the region as part of the charity he established ‘Syria Relief'. 


Syria Relief was established in September 2011 to help co-ordinate help and support for victims of the Syrian violence. It has raised more than £6 million. 
He said, “I have never won an award before. It is a real honour and a privilege to win this award.
“Thank you to the Fusion Awards for giving me an opportunity to let people become aware of what is really happening in Syria.”
On stage Dr Hakimi thanked his family friends and other members of his charity.
“This award will motivate me work harder and raise more money for charity.
“It is dedicated to all those who are suffering across the world.”
