THE first Islamic primary school in Pendle has held an open day.

Al-Ikhlaas Primary School opened its doors for its first full academic year in September in a disused warehouse in Norfolk Street, Nelson.

The Fountains of Knowledge charity bought the factory and raised £250,000 in two-and-a-half years to transform the former Eureka building.

Year 3 teacher Akfa Shaheen said: “We had a really great response to our first open day with about 60 parents attending to look around the school.

"Parents like that we provide specialist Islamic lessons to small classes of ten.

“We now hope to build on our success further in 2011.”

what is the point of this. Without intergration, all the cultures of the country will never live in harmony. This is a step backwards in terms of creating a multicultural society and playing into the hands of the EDF

How nauseating. How sickeningly nauseating. I don't mean this specific religion; I mean ALL 'religious' primary schools.

Thanks asianimage, alot of people wanted to know about what's new in our locality, and that includes if there are new schools opened in Nelson.
.
To others; it's not about "Us vs them". Infact, if we study history - Islam was the most multicultural-religi
ous diverse culture, from Muslim Spain, all the way till China.
.
check IslamReligion dot com and see the Comparative Religion - Tolerance in Islam section.
.
Many Muslims want to integrate into society, the mainstream media however will not allow them to do that (by accusing ALL Muslims of being evil). And this is why Asianimage is taking small steps to support this integration in a positive way.
.
Peace.

Muslim Spain? Was that not because it was INVADED through North Africa?

check IslamReligion dot com and see the Comparative Religion - Tolerance in Islam section - What tolerance? How can you have tolerance when your children are subjected to Islam from the day they are born? As for women? Iran? - yeah real tolerant, Saudi Arabia? The Saudi Police have been victimising Shia muslims on pilgrimage (see this Monday's guardian) because of their way of worshipping. As for malaysia, the biggest muslim population in the world, you try to convert to anything else besides islam and you are arrested, lose your job, social outcasted. Sorry Muslim, your religeon, like every other before it is intolorant and used as a too, by the strong to oppress the week. Sorry about the spelling mistakes, but i'm just speaking my opinion and don't have this info stored ready to cut and paste when needed.

How can we intergrate when our kids are seperated and taught one side of the story.
