Children from the 'Madrasah Taleemul Islam' based at the Jamea Masjid in Preston braved the freezing weather to plant 150 trees.
The project was part of their 'Ilm2Amal - Knowledge2Action' lesson ‘Caring for the Environment’ and included volunteers Terry Blackburn, a Ranger from Preston City Council and Steve Edwards the Tree Officer from Lancashire County Council.
The lesson focused on 'what the environment is made of and why we have a duty to care for the environment'.
The trees were kindly donated by the Woodland Trust and were planted at Fishwick Nature Reserve in Preston.
