She said: “I didn’t speak any English when I moved to Blackburn so I have had to start all my studies from scratch.

"That was really hard when I was at school but at Blackburn College my confidence has grown.

“The tutors have really supported me and helped me to become more independent. When I’ve finished my Level 3 I hoping to progress to Nursing at University.

Tania moved from Italy in 2014 and joined the Level 3 Business with Legal Extended Diploma.

She has since started a degree at University Centre at Blackburn College in BA (Hons) Business with Management. Tania said, “I found the teachers at Blackburn College really supportive and I have had the same experience at the University Centre.

"I’m hoping to move into teaching once I have finished my course.

“It was hard learning English but I’m thrilled my efforts have been recognised at the awards ceremony.”

Dr Thomas Moore, Principal and CEO at the College, said the credit should go to all the hardworking students, along with the dedicated staff at the College. Dr Moore said, “This is our opportunity to celebrate the success of students from across a wide range of full-time courses offered by the College.”

“I would like to congratulate all our students who were successful and thank the staff for their dedication, commitment and professionalism in helping students achieve their full potential.”
