UNIVERSITY of Bolton research student Chathurika Kannangara has had her work exploring new ways of viewing dyslexia published in a leading psychology journal.

Her research article, published in Frontiers in Psychology, explains an original and new model of how to view dyslexia and to work with dyslexia more positively.

Chathurika said: "Positive Psychology is the scientific study of optimal human functioning and it aims at exploring what is best in our lives.

"My theoretical model, ‘Moving from Languishing Dyslexia to Thriving Dyslexia’, will be fully tested in few months’ time, towards the end of my PhD.

"Frontiers in Psychology has a rigorous procedure of peer reviewing since it has already achieved a very high impact factor.

"Therefore, I have learned a lot about the process of revisions and from communicating with well-established researchers in the field.

"I want to thank my PhD supervisor Professor Jerome Carson, since he has been a main guiding force for my starting to publish and reaching journals of high impact. Since the article has been published I have received a very good response from a number of researchers and entrepreneurs.

"Even though I have published research in other peer-reviewed journals, I consider this to be one of my greatest achievements on my PhD journey."
