Both young and old joined together to pack boxes of Pringles and coffee to help thousands of people across the country.
Harrow Central Mosque, in Station Road, Harrow was filled with around 60 volunteers from young children to the elderly as it packed food parcels to be sent across the UK to help some of the country’s poorest families who are struggling to put a meal on the table.
The Al-Mizan Charitable Trust, who organise the food drive and also hosted events in Manchester and Birmingham, have been raising money to pay for the food, which is then sent out to around 1,000 homes across the country.
Director Ali Khimji said: “As the event is held during Ramadan and they are fasting, food is obviously a big thing in their lives.
“But they are still giving their time to help those who cannot afford any foodthemselves.
“This is the fourth year we have done the food parcels, and every year it just gets bigger.”
The trust was set up four years ago, with its main area of work being to give out grants to people and organisations in the community of up to £500.
