Amy Willerton is backing the Exam Results Helpline (ERH) to encourage young people to make the right career choices.

The Exam Results Helpline, which is funded by the Department for Education, is used by teenagers wanting advice on where their qualifications could take them.

And for the first time this year Careers Advisers will also be proving help and guidance on Facebook and Twitter.

Amy, 21, said: ‘I’m thrilled to be supporting such a valuable helpline for students who are at a crucial point in their education. There are so many options out there for young people. My friends have taken a variety of paths including higher education and going straight into a job.

"There really is something to suit everybody. I got an A* and 2 Bs in my A levels and was going to study media at Cardiff but I didn’t go to university in the end.

"I like to think that maybe at some point I’ll do a degree though. The great thing about Higher Education is that you can go back anytime and you can even study part time and from home. If it was the right thing for me to go back and study again then I’d definitely do it.”

The Exam Results Helpline number 0808 100 8000 is a free telephone helpline staffed by independent and highly experienced careers advisers.

Students across the UK who have received their exam results (A levels, GCSEs and equivalent qualifications) can call in to talk through their options and to get advice about their future learning and career options.

The Helpline is open throughout the exam results period, this year running between Thursday 14 and Saturday 23 August for students receiving exam results in England, Wales and Northern Ireland*. The busiest time is always A-level results day, which is Thursday 14 August this year. Last year, the helpline received over 6,000 calls.

The ERH is also being supported by Hollyoaks actors Jazmine Franks, who plays Esther and Alfie Browne-Sykes, who plays Jason.

If a student is reconsidering their options based on results they have or have not achieved, they should contact the Exam Results Helpline on 0808 100 8000 from 14 August.

If a student has a specific query about their university application, they should contact the UCAS Contact Centre on 0871 468 0468.
