A film shot in Lister Park has scooped a young film-maker the title of Big Screen Bradford Film-maker of the Month.
Himarsha Chathura Ukwatta, 25, who is studying a Masters in Film at the University of Bradford, impressed the judges with his artistic cinematography and attention to detail. His film, called Autumn, is a study of “the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness” in Lister Park.
David Wilson, director of Bradford City of Film, said: “What we loved about Himarsha’s film was the colour and lightness of touch as he filmed autumn unfolding in Lister Park. He really captured the many moods of the season and the park’s stunning beauty.
“We had some fabulous and diverse entries, including a great humorous entry from Dan Baker with a film about what his cats get up to when he’s out. Dan was a worthy runner-up this month.”
Himarsha said: “I am surprised but delighted to win the competition. I really enjoyed making the film and it’s fantastic to get my work on Big Screen Bradford.”
Bradford City of Film and Bradford City Council, with support from the Digital Working Academy at the University of Bradford, are giving budding film-makers chance to provide a new programme of content for the Big Screen on Centenary Square.
