A takeaway and restaurant have become HMC (Halal Monitoring Committee) approved.

The Shahi Qila Restaurant, Shear Bank Road is the second restaurant in the North West and the first in Blackburn to be HMC approved.

It follows in the footsteps of the Barbeque Base of Derby Street, Bolton.

Illyas Mohammed of the Shahi Qila said, "We had requests from customers and locals so decided to become HMC approved."

Meanwhile Dixy Fried Chicken, based on Whalley New Road in Blackburn is the first takeaway in the region to become HMC approved.

"It is wonderful to be the first takeaway in the region to be HMC approved." said Azahar Iqbal of Dixy Fried
