Tiger awards nominations open

Nominations are now open for the ABF Tiger Awards to be held at this year's Asian Business Federation (ABF) Annual Dinner.

The awards will take place on 16th November in front of 1,000 guests at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton.

The awards, which will be open to all ethnic minority-owned businesses, cover seven categories: business of the year; business personality of the year; start-up of the year; workforce development and skills award; international company of the year; green business award; and outstanding woman in business award.

Nominations are open for all seven categories via the Tiger Awards website www.abfed.co.uk; nominations close on 5th October. The awards are free to enter.

The Awards judges include Lord Terry Thomas, Gerry Yeung OBE (founder of Yang Sing Ltd.), Nighat Awan OBE and Mukhtar Hussain QC (head of Lincoln House Chambers).

Mubarak Chati, general manager of the ABF, says: "The first annual Tiger Awards follows numerous requests that we've had to host a regional business awards for black and ethnic minority businesses.

They will help recognize and reward the unsung ethnic minority entrepreneurs who contribute some £1.7 billion to the North West economy each year."

John Stanworth, area corporate director of the event's key sponsor, Barclays, says: "Barclays is proud to sponsor this event to express its support of the ABF and its dedicated work and commitment on behalf of the ethnic business community.

The Tiger Awards are a tribute to the entrepreneurs and professionals whose skills and determination will shape the future."
