Entrepreneur Balbir Panesar has been installed as chairman of Bradford Chamber, a post he will hold for the next two years.
Mr Panesar, boss of building services company PEC, was unveiled in front of Bradford's business community at the chamber's AGM at the Cedar Court Hotel.
Mr Panesar becomes the first Asian president of the Chamber, and replaces Richard Wightman.
Mr Panesar's deputy chairman, Dr Harold Robinson of Magellan Properties was also installed at the meeting.
Mr Panesar said Mr Wightman would be a hard act to follow, adding: "I will do my best for Bradford Chamber and the district as a whole."
