A new £1m Asian wedding hall is expected to attract guests from across the North West.

The Grand Venue Banqueting and Conference Suite based on Harrison Street in Blackburn has been built on the former 20,000 square foot site of the former engineering firm DSF Delmec.

The venue has been completely renovated and can cater for small or large functions according to Manager, Sajid Patel.

He said, “We bought the site some years ago and then when the company went into liquidation we decided to build a much-needed wedding and event space.

“We stripped the building to the shell structure and the venue has been built to certain specifications.

“We think it is a great addition to the area and has helped to redevelop this area too.”

The hall will be one of the largest in the region

The venue has a large reception area, a bridal suite, prayers areas and includes gold-coloured sinks in the bathrooms.  Seating can be split over two floors for larger wedding parties.

Whilst Blackburn has smaller wedding venues, restaurants and public buildings, few can cater for much larger wedding parties in one sitting.

Many Lancashire residents hoping to host bigger weddings will look to travel to Bolton and Manchester.

Sajid said, “We realise a lot of people have been travelling outside of Blackburn to host bigger weddings.

“We have ample parking for those guests too where attendants will be on hand to direct traffic.

“We cater for smaller events too and we have in house catering which can be amended to suit different cultures and tastes.

“In sections there is a lot of bling but it is all part of what people want at wedding halls.

“The main entrance is around the back and we do realise sometimes things can get noisy at Asian Weddings with drums and so forth!

“We are already in an area with few residents but there is no disruption to anyone in the area.”
