One of the oldest Asian owned furniture manufacturing businesses in the region launched a new chapter in their history.

Over 200 guests attended the official opening of the newly renovated premises of H&S Living on Montague Street in Blackburn.

Known to many as H&S Furniture and H&S Interiors the company has been based in the building since 1993.

The business began from smaller premises in 1978 on Whalley New Road. The furniture was remarkably manufactured by Akbar Hussain in a small shed in the back of the house.

Work on the interior began in October last year which saw the building go through a major transformation. The result is a modern showroom and design which rivals some of the country’s major sofa and bed suppliers.

Faisel Akbar launched the new look showroom alongside brothers Yaser, Naser, Qaser and Hassan. Faisel said, “My father established this business and it all to his dedication and hard work over the years that we are able to now open a showroom of this standard.

“The company has gone through many changes but this was a major one.

“The interior of the building was completely renovated and both floors allow customers to view some of our unique designs and creations in comfort.”

The building work took six months and saw an imposing new glass front installed. It also now features LED lighting and a new eco-friendly heating system.

Faisel said, “The new showroom houses our range of beds and sofas as well living room accessories.

“We have always been popular with customers looking to create something exclusive for their home.

“We can build any style sofa or bed in any colour in any design.”
The showroom features beds, headboards, leather chairs and a range of the company’s sofas. Most of the furniture is manufactured in Blackburn at the company’s other premises on Forrest Street  and sold direct to the customer.
Faisel added, “We are proud of our town and the region and the new look showroom is a great addition to the area and we look forward to welcoming our regular customers as well as new ones to the showroom.”
