Fireworks are becoming more popular at Asian weddings with people wanting to stand out from the crowd, says a leading firework specialist.

But people should do their homework and look to get permission off the venues.

Imran Hussain (pictured), director of Fireworks North West Ltd in Bolton Road, Blackburn, says there is an increasing demand for more and more extravagant firework displays at Asian weddings.

He said: “Asian weddings are renowned for their ostentatious displays and elaborate ceremonies.

“It’s all about having a bigger and bolder wedding than anyone else. Fireworks give that spectacular end to the wedding.

“Even something as simple as hand held sparklers held by wedding guests as the bride and groom make their grand entrance is aesthetically pleasing and makes for memorable photos.”

The cost of fireworks for weddings varies depending on budget and the amount of time dedicated for the display.

“The display usually lasts between 5 and 10 minutes.

“On average, you would pay between £200 and £300 for a special occasion.

“Prices of the individual fireworks vary and go up to £500 for the more flamboyant ones.

“Although I always advise customers who are planning a firework display for a wedding to contact the wedding venue and ask for permission first.”

Although fireworks are used on joyous occasions, Imran reveals that one customer requested that when she died, her cremated ashes be placed inside the firework to be released on her funeral.

As well as weddings and mehndis, fireworks are becoming more and more popular for Eid.

“After Ramadan, people like to mark Eid in an elaborate way.

“It’s one of those rare things that is unanimously enjoyed by adults and children.”
