FOOD fans are being invited to a 10-course Bangladeshi banquet in Bolton Market.

The special event is being hosted by the husband and wife team behind Jazac Foods, which has set-up in the Lifestyle Hall and will mark its official opening.

Zubada and John Lee launched Jazac Foods, a traditional Bangladeshi street food stall, several months ago, with the aim of providing the Bolton public with authentic and unique food from the other side of the world.

The stall is manned largely by volunteers who are friends of the couple — with Mrs Lee holding down a job as a Chemistry teacher in Wigan.

She said the inspiration for the food served at Jazac comes from her Bangladeshi roots, with her step-mother teaching her to cook from an early age.

She added: “She taught me the style of cooking and it is a style of food that I have always loved and always eaten and I enjoy sharing it with other people.

“This is authentic food but it is unique in this area, there is no one around who sells my type of food.”

Some of the exotic offerings at Jazac include squid bargies, shark curries and the highly regarded wedding goat — which is traditionally only served at weddings because of its high value.

The launch event will take place in the Lifestyle Hall on Friday, with Bolton Council’s leader Cliff Morris officially cutting the ribbon to the stall at 6pm.

Tickets for the meal cost £25 and will see guests given 10 tantalising dishes to enjoy in the seating area in the hall.

Joining in the offer, the Great Ale Year Round stall will offer a special deal of three glasses of different ales for £2 to accompany the street food.

Diners will be serenaded by trader Charles Hool who will play the piano which is in place in the Lifestyle Hall.

Tickets for the meal are running out and can be picked up at the Jazac stall, which is located next to the Nkono Cameroonian stall.
