Apprentice contestant Pamela Uddin found it was "game over" as she was given the boot from the BBC1 show after touting a disastrous dating boardgame.

The assistant brand manager from Dublin was fired by Lord Sugar when her team had sales which were half those of her rivals in a challenge that saw them design and sell boardgames.

Their product, The Relationship Guru, was deemed offensive as it included sexist questions about men and women's likes and dislikes written by team member Daniel Lassman, while the other team came up with a guess-the-country game called Geoknow which had broader family appeal.

Uddin admitted she had been surprised by the questions, created by Lassman, who runs a pub quiz company.

"He read out a few and I thought they seemed fine, but I hadn't seen all of them. It was a bit of a shock, but I think it was a bit of a shock to everybody," she said today.

The 23-year-old, whose business plan involved a consultancy and workshops for dyslexia, also revealed that she was unsure whether she was the best choice as project manager because she has the condition herself.

She said: "I said, 'I don't really play boardgames,' and I never really did because I never really understood them.

"I thought I wasn't really the best person to design a boardgame because being dyslexic I found them quite confusing, but it didn't worry me too much because with Daniel being a pub quiz company owner, he does that for a living."

Uddin, who took Lassman and Lauren Riley into the boardroom to battle it out, added: "I'm feeling quite gutted. I wasn't expecting to go - I know I made errors but I do feel other people made more over the course of the six weeks.

"The team was quite broken from the previous week and I think I concentrated too much on trying to bring Daniel back into the team. I did think Daniel might have gone instead."

Talking about the more intense atmosphere in this year's competition, she explained: "When there were 20 of us, it really made everyone step up, because usually if someone has done something worse than you, they're going. But this time, the four at the bottom of the pile could all potentially be fired."
