A former City worker Vini Aujla and her husband Bal have experienced a 700% increase in the turnover of their award winning fresh curry sauce business .

It follows a successful appearance for Vini & Bal’s on BBC2 programme, Dragons’ Den.

Since the episode aired, month on month turnover has rocketed sevenfold, with the pair now projecting that the “Dragons’ Den effect” will be worth at least £500,000 to the business over the next 12 months.

Thanks to the show, the business hopes to add half a million pounds to turnover by February 2015, ten times the amount of the initial investment made by Dragon Piers Linney.

Vini and Bal Aujla were the first British Asian couple to secure investment on the BBC show, trading funds from Linney for a 30% equity share in the business.

Following this investment, Vini & Bal’s has secured a listing in Sainsbury’s and is now available at 300 stores in the fresh meat aisle, with three varieties from the range: Fiery Mirchi, Jeera and Shahi.

Vini & Bal’s rustic Indian curry sauces are a range of fresh, chilled Punjabi spice blend bases that allow food lovers to easily create intensely-flavoured, authentic Indian cuisine from scratch in the comfort of their own kitchen.

The range, which consists of four unique varieties, was created using the pair’s traditional family recipes and promises to revolutionise the curry sauce category, providing an alternative to the gloopy, bland, preservative-packed jars.

Co-founder Vini Aujla said: “We pitched for investment on Dragons’ Den to secure the capital our business needed to help it grow, so naturally we are delighted to witness a huge boost in turnover in such a short space of time.

“Thanks to the Dragons’ Den effect, we have experienced soaring sales of our range of chilled sauces, expanding  our month on month turnover by 700%. Our projection is that this will add a further £500,000 to turnover over the next 12 months.”

Vini & Bal’s sauces are available nationwide via Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Booths.

In 2013, the brand was awarded two Great Taste Awards; two stars for the Jeera and one for the Tharka.
