Want to make rotes (chappatis) the traditional way then you can now build your own tandoor!

Norfolk company Edwards and Eve Cob Building are now offering the UK’s first earthen tandoor oven building workshops.

They may well be based in what not be seen a curry heartland of the UK but these Charlotte Eve and Kate Edwards could well make your barbeques the envy of the whole neighbourhood.

Charlotte and Kate have already taught over a thousand people how to build their own earthen pizza oven and now they’re offering what they believe is the UK’s first tandoor building workshop too.

Kate Edwards has built cob houses, studios, sculptures and bread ovens and now she’s finished sculpting an authentic, giant, earthen tandoor.

She said, “Everyone loves a curry so we knew this course would be popular.

“We can’t wait to start sharing our tandoor building and cooking skills with people on our workshops this summer".

Charlotte Eve who takes care of feeding hungry participants has spent weeks perfecting her naan and curry making skills, using recipes from Indian relations in Karnataka, India.

She’s determined everyone enjoys the ultimate authentic lunch when they come on the course.

She added, “This course isn’t just about building a tandoor. It’s about eating too and relaxing in an idyllic location on the edge of the lake here.”

Kate who teaches the workshop said, “I’ll show you how easy it is to build a tandoor with the earth – it’s the traditional way of doing it and it creates the most aesthetic looking oven for your garden.

“We believe this original type of tandoor definitely makes the best tasting Indian food.

“The wood fired tandoor cooks food at such an intense heat and so quickly, the end results are truly mouthwatering and quite different from anything you’ve probably tasted before this side of Bangalore!“
