The nations best takeaways, restaurants and chefs   were announced at this year's Takeaway.com English Curry Awards.

Over 450 guests attended the awards ceremony including Member of Parliament for South East Bolton Yasmin Qureshi, Amir Khan and his Fiancé Faryal Makhdoom, Emmerdale TV Soap stars Matthew Wolfenden and Charley Webb.

The awards were presented by Sunny and Shay from the Bafta nominated Chanel 4’s ‘The Family’. Sisters in fusion, SonAash performed for our guests with a brilliant classical dance which was later followed by a mixed bollywood fusion.

The ceremony this year took place at the Excellency Centre in Bolton.

Operation Manager of Oceanic Consulting Yasmin Mahmood said: “The awards were a runaway success and have made there mark in the English Asian calendar.

"There was a fantastic turnout and an electric atmosphere inside The Excellency Centre which represented the vibrant and varied talents within the room.

"This year’s awards succeeded in both raising money for a worthy charity and paying tribute to England’s thriving curry industry.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Mohammed Sabir of the Aagrah. Mohammed Sabir opened his first restaurant in 1977 their empire has expanded over the past 30 years.  They have created a niche amongst those appreciative of good authentic Asian food served in opulent surroundings.

The Curry King of the Year which was presented by Asian Image went to Shabir Hussain of Akbar's.

For the second year running Mr Hussain swooped the Curry King 2012 Award.
