A Bollywood blockbuster is being filmed at the University of Leicester campus.

A crew of over 100 is scheduled to shoot at different locations at the University of Leicester over three months.

Students from the Department of History of Art and Film will also get the chance to get to grips with technical aspects of film-making as 90% of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is shot in the UK.

The film features legendary star Dharmendra along with his two renowned star-sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.

For Sunny, coming to Leicester is a return home- his wife is from Rutland and his children were born in Leicester.

The film, a comedy, will also feature the University’s name as Sunny portrays a character who studied here.

Sunny said: “It’s wonderful to be back in Leicester.

“The warm welcome my family has received from the University of Leicester has been wonderful.

“We are looking forward to using the campus as it has splendid facilities and a fantastic estate which will add to the visual appeal of the film. Also the students will get an opportunity to work with us and get hands on practical experience of film making.

“So far it’s been wonderful shooting here and we look forward to shooting in other parts of the city and region.”

Heroines of the movie are Neha Sharma who featured in the film Kya Kool Hai Hum and Aussie model Kristina Akheeva. The film’s director is Sangeeth Sivan who directed Kya Kool Hai Hum and EK, the Power of One, amongst others.

The film opens in Scotland, travels to Banaras in India and eventually makes its way to UK –and Leicester.

The story revolves around Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol), a dashing, honest and righteous loan recovery agent with a unique working style.

In another universe called Banaras, much to Paramveer’s dismay, his folks Dharam (Dharmendra) and Gajodhar (Bobby Deol) have failed to mend their ways and continue deceiving people.

"This time though they have a greater con up their sleeves. Their latest fish is, Yograj Khanna, a rich Night Club owner from England. Shrewdly Dharam intends to hook up Gajodhar with Yograj’s strikingly beautiful daughter, Suman, posing as a billionaire himself.

Dharam and Gajodhar land in UK and to their surprise find that Paramveer is Yograj’s new night club manager. Thus unfolds a series of hard core conning by the father-son duo with Paramveer hell-bent on ruining every last effort.
