Girlington and Barkerend medics in Pakistan

A team of Bradford health workers has been distributing packs of food and cooking oil to 500 families, after setting up a camp in a flood-affected region of Pakistan.
Dr Muhammed Iqbal, of Kensington Street Health Centre in Girlington, Dr Akram Khan, of Barkerend Health Centre, Sabiya Khan, workforce development facilitator at NHS Bradford and Airedale, Roxanna Rashid, community staff nurse with Bradford and Airedale Community Health Services (BACHS), Hana Mandalia, community nurse with BACHS and Samia Hanif, practice nurse at Kensington Health Centre, are in a town called Dadu.
The team has raised more than £30,000 to buy supplies and the group flew out to Karachi a week ago today to deliver the aid.
The mission was organised by Dr Iqbal who was keen to make sure aid made its way to hard-to-reach communities affected by the floods.
Before the trip Sabiya Khan said: “I will be rolling my sleeves up and doing whatever I can. I am touched how people have been really generous. It is something that has brought people together.”
Dr Iqbal is keeping people informed via Twitter. His messages reveal the team has been helping in Faridabad.
