Tributes to murdered waiter

A man whose body was found after a worker spotted blood dripping from the ceiling of his office is believed to have been murdered by his cousin, police have said.

The body of Ahmed Remon Hayder, 27, known as Ray, was found in a flat above a firm of architects in Sutton Park Road, Seaford, East Sussex, just before 1pm on Monday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination found that he died of head injuries.

Police today issued a photograph of Anaha Ali, who also goes by the name of Mohammad Azhar, as they named him as the prime suspect in their murder investigation.

Sussex Police have been liaising with officers from the Metropolitan Police as they believe the 29-year-old was sighted in London on Thursday. Warnings have been issued to all ports should he try to leave the country.

Tributes were paid to Mr Hayder, who lived with his family in the flat, which is linked to the Moon of India restaurant where he worked as a waiter.

Describing him as a “beloved son and brother”, the statement released by police said he was actively involved with the Seaford Bengali community and “would never hurt a fly”.

It added: “He brought a smile to those around him. He was so caring and so considerate to anyone he associated with.

”As a family we are deeply shocked and devastated regarding his sudden death. We hope justice will be served. We will miss him for eternity and miss his beautiful laugh.”

Mr Hayder was managing the family-run restaurant while his parents were on holiday in Bangladesh in the week leading up to his death.
