A 27-year-old man was remanded in custody today charged with murdering a taxi driver who was stabbed to death after picking up a passenger last summer.
Andrew Bayliss, from Kings Norton, Birmingham, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during an hour-long hearing at Redditch Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant, a former warehouse worker, is accused of murdering Mohammed Arshad in north Worcestershire on July 22 this year.
More than 20 friends and colleagues of Mr Arshad, a 36-year-old from Birmingham, were in court to witness today’s hearing.
Bayliss, of Ratcliffe Avenue, Kings Norton, was arrested last Saturday by West Mercia Police following an appeal for information on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme.
Magistrates ordered the father of one to appear at Worcester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on November 23.
