Bromley Football Club's pre-season programme got off to a successful start at Romford last week, winning the Wembley Cup on penalties after the game had ended one-all.
Romford should have taken an early lead when they were awarded a penalty as early at the third minute, but Danny Harwood brilliantly saved the spot-kick.
Bromley the took the lead on the half-hour when Charley Side fastened onto a through ball and shot past the advancing Romford goalkeeper.
But Bromley then wasted two gilt-edged chances to increase their lead when Mark Tompkins missed twice from the penalty spot.
First, he had his shot saved and then dragged his second well wide. Last week proved to be an eventful time for Tompkins, who won his appeal against a 42-day suspension after being sent off last season while playing for Cray Wanderers.
But his double fluff from the spot proved costly as Romford then equalised five minutes ater the break.
Bearing in mind that three penalties had been missed in the game proper, the subsequent shoot-out highighted Romford's failure from 12 yards as Bromley, by now with their sights on target, won it 4-1.
On Saturday, Bromley scored a comfortable 4-2 win at Bass Kent League side Herne Bay.
In an entertaining game, Bromley went ahead in the 11th minute when Mark Tivey's free-kick from just outside the box took a deflection to wrong-foot goalkeeper Daryl Broadmore.
But a defensive error on the right flank enabled the home side to level nine minutes later.
Both sides created good chances but it was Bromley who regained the lead on the stroke of half-time. John Wilford's cross was deflected wide of the goal, but Tompkins' overhead kick returned the ball into the danger area and the onrushing Tivey headed home from close range.
Four minutes after the restart, Side raced through to put Bromley 3-1 up before another defensive lapse enabled Herne Bay to reduce the arrears after 72 minutes.
Bur Michael Harney then put Side through and the diminutive striker finished in similar style to his earlier goal to clinch a 4-2 win.
Bromley continue their pre-season build up with a friendly against a Millwall X1 at Hayes Lane on Friday, kick-off 7.30pm.
Then, on Tuesday night, Bromley entertain Croydon, kick off 7.30pm.
