A new £700,000 wedding and events venue is to open in Preston.
Imperial Banqueting, based on St Marys Street North in the city, will be opening its doors in August for an inaugural event.
The new luxury space which costs up to £700,000 to renovate and can host up to 950 guests has been established by Munnaf Ahmed .
It includes among other features, two grand entrances, chandeliers and parking for at least 300 vehicles.
Munaf said, “The inspiration was based on the look and feel of a high end hotel lobby you come to expect in places like Dubai.
“This meant all fixtures and fittings had to be bespoke manufactured.
“The geometric Islamic art theme can be seen running through the bespoke fret work screens, the brass lanterns hanging in the function room, the gilded brass spindles on the staircase to the brass facade in the reception area bars.”
“Onsite facilities include customary prayer rooms with ablution amenities, a ladies only entrance, a bridal suite for the bride and groom to relax before they descend the gilded brass staircase to the function rooms.”
Munaf told us clients can book their own caterers if need be, “We can provide in-house catering through some of our catering partners such as Tipu Sultan from Birmingham or Payal from Manchester alongside smaller local caterers from Lancashire.
“Future plans involve relocating a well-known chef and his team from Mumbai as we feel the food element is very much an integral part of the five star service we offer.”
It is hoped the venue will attract both small and large events to the former carpet showroom, “We have two large function suites each capable of holding 450 guests and two smaller function suites that can cater for 50-100 guests.
“Each function suite is licensed to hold civil ceremonies onsite.”
Mr Ahmed said the building would be of huge benefit to the city of Preston, “In central Preston there are very few purpose-built spaces that can cater for large attendees that tick all the right boxes.”
