A rapist whose brutal attack was captured on CCTV has been jailed for six and a half years.

Harjinder Brar, 22, of Langley Road, Slough, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at Reading Crown Court to charges of assault, sexual touching and rape in December last year.

He beat and raped a vulnerable, drunk woman after meeting her in a nightclub.

In the footage he was seen taking his victim to an underpass near Nicholson's Lane where he pushed her to the ground and hit her in the face, before taking her round the corner out of view of the camera.

His victim attempted to call the police. But Brar took her phone and ended the call before orally raping his victim.

However, shortly after he began raping her Brar was disturbed by two passers-by, which caused him to abandon his attack and flee.

During his first appearance at court William Eaglestone, prosecuting, said: "The rape is brief but the whole attack is somewhat sustained and on a person who was vulnerable due to being drunk."

Brar had been kept in custody after that hearing, where he was also ordered to sign the sex offender's register.

Sentencing him on Friday Judge Maria Lamb told Brar that his behaviour had been despicable.
