A TV appeal has raised £100,000 to help a Sikh man who is critically ill in a hospital in Israel.

Inderpal Singh is awaiting Car T Cell Cancer treatment as his last chance for survival.

He was told by doctors he was eligible for the very specialist treatment but it would cost £100,000.

Inderpal’s family were told they had to find this sum of money within 28 days in order for the treatment to be given and for it to work.

As of last Sunday they had raised £2,500 through their crowdfunded JustGiving page – they needed a miracle.

Twenty-six hours later with the help of the Sikh Channel and the generosity of donors from around the world they reached their £100,000 target.

A spokesperson for the Sikh Channel said, "The Sikh Channel were purely the facilitators and the real heroes are the thousands of people who put their hands in their pockets to donate, people from the Sikh community, as well as from other faiths and indeed people of no faith, just people wanting to help a seriously ill young man.

"Also special mention to all the volunteers who sat taking phone calls from donors on both the Sunday and Monday.

"The Sikh Channel has been pleased to be able to help and our prayers are now with Inderpal, hoping his treatment in Israel is successful and he can return to the UK for a bone marrow transplant and to be reunited with his wife, children, the rest of his family and his new family at the Sikh Channel”.
