Female community members enjoyed a “successful” cooking competition to commemorate a religious festival.

The annual Baisakhi Shopping Festival and Cooking Contest was held at Pinner Village Hall, on April 23, to mark the advent of spring.

The event to mark the Sikh festival was organised by Party Guru event planner, Manasi Adholiya.

The Cooking Contest, backed by Indian financial service HDFC, celebrated its third year with women from as far as North Greenwich and Barnet participating in three categories, Savoury, Snack and Sweet, before a panel of judges.

In the end there were three winners Chella Krishnakumari in Savoury, Ridhima Mehta in Snack and Nupur Aggarwal in Sweet, and three runners up.

The judges were the head chef at Hundred Degrees, Pinner Rd, Kundan Negi, owner of Niv’s Street Food, Nivi Sukllikar, sous chef at Talli Joe, London, Victoria Suvorova and Mrs Asia UK 2018, Meenakshi Kumar.

Prizes were donated by Hundred Degrees, Bamboo House, 101 Lounge, Talli Joe, Meenakshi Kumar's High Street vouchers and Blue Feathers upcoming event, Jaspreet Live.

Manasi said: “It was a very successful event and we have now been approached by a very popular banqueting hall to host a live cooking contest in the near future.

“We look forward to more community programs and events.”
