YASMIN Qureshi, MP for Bolton South East, travelled to to Bosnia-Herzegovina to learn how lessons from the massacre of Srebrenica can be used to tackle racial hatred in the UK.
The shadow justice minister went on a four-day delegation organised by Remembering Srebrenica a charity, which works to educate people about genocide in order to create more cohesive communities in the UK.
Ms Qureshi, who also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group for Commemorating Srebrenica said: “Srebrenica shows us that with the spreading of fear and distrust comes violence. We must stand up to all forms of hatred if we want a society that benefits all. That is the best tribute we can pay to the people of Srebrenica who lost so much in the genocide”.
