A SINGLE mother with terminal cancer has started a desperate appeal to raise £100,000 to pay for treatment at a German clinic.

Mussarat Nazir, 54, is looking to raise the funds to pay for treatment for her stage four breast cancer at the Hallwang Clinic, near Stuttgart.

The former St Luke’s Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary nurse, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, has started an online crowdfunding campaign to fund her medical care, which includes five injections worth 9,700 Euros each.

She is looking for targeted therapy, which is a newer type of cancer treatment that uses drugs or other substances to more precisely identify and attack cancer cells.

This treatment is not available to her on the NHS but Miss Nazir has found out it is available privately in Manchester. She visited the German clinic in May this year for a consultation and was told that she needed to start the treatment immediately but was unable to gather the funds.

Miss Nazir, of Bargrange Avenue, Shipley, said she wants to live as long as she can and to see her son Adam, 20, graduate from his degree in Biomedical Studies at Newcastle University next year. She said: “I am very desperate. I don’t want to go just yet. I have really suffered. I am not walking properly. I want to live as long as I can for my son Adam, he is only 20.

“The longer I am leaving it, the more my body is picking up the cancer. I need this treatment ASAP. I can’t sell my house or car to get that £100,000. I need to raise as much money as I can to start my treatment.

“I am hoping that more drugs come out but at the moment this is what I am fighting for.

“I want that bit of peace inside and relax and enjoy my life with my son. I want to be here for as long as possible. I pray that this treatment will be successful. I want to stay alive for as long as I can. I just need help. It is no good for me all of this stress. I was on hormonal tablets, my treatment had stopped working. The only thing I need is targeted therapy."

A number of British people are using the Hallwang Clinic for treatment, reported to be among them is former Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell, who played Zoe Tate.

Mother-of-four Sally Major, 33, from Silsden, lost her battle with bowel cancer in April this year after raising enough money to fund treatment at Hallwang clinic.
