Two Sikh organisations took to the streets of London to share the Valentine’s spirit with the general public.
Hunger relief charity SWAT (Sikh Welfare Awareness Team) and educational organisation Basics of Sikhi collaborated on the streets of central London to handout heart-shaped balloons to passersby in central London.
The gesture was made at The Strand outside SWAT’s regular Sunday evening feed for the homeless and hungry.
The feed is one of many SWAT do throughout the week across the country, feeding thousands of poverty stricken people.
Babban Singh of Basics of Sikhi said of the event, “Love is integral to the Sikh faith. Sikhs are taught that love is the only way to connect to God in this life, and that is why we show love to all of mankind.
"We felt that sharing this message is the best way for Sikhs to be celebrating Valentine’s day. The smiles on the faces of those who received a balloon showed us the message definitely got across.”
