A man has been jailed for more than four years after subjecting a woman to a relentless campaign of stalking and harassment.

Faisal Hussain, 26, from Birmingham, was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday, December 8 to four years, four months for 13 offences including stalking, breach of restraining order, and absconding from lawful custody.

Hussain was issued with a restraining order after being charged with a stalking offence against his victim in July 2016.

However, he breached the order nearly on a daily basis.

Ahead of his stalking trial, while on remand at Wandsworth Prison, he sent photographs of himself to the victim, along with multiple text messages.

At his trial, Mr Hussain pleaded guilty to stalking and was given a five-month suspended sentence.

On his release from HMP Wandsworth, he continued to harass his victim with calls and messages.

Two days later, the victim reported Mr Hussain to police and an investigation was launched, but Hussain evaded police and left London.

During this time, the harassment continued. One day he called the victim 50 times and sent her 49 texts over a 24-hour period.

On one occasion, having found out where his victim lived, Mr Hussain waited for her outside the property and then followed the victim onto a bus, into a supermarket, around the shop and home again, before attempting to get into the property.

On September 21 Mr Hussain was arrested in the street in Wandsworth in relation to the various breaches of his order and for stalking. He was charged the following day.

PC Lucy Marsh, Wandsworth CID, said: “Hussain subjected his victim to a prolonged and relentless campaign of terror, leaving her in fear of her life and always looking over should.

“On a number of occasions he threatened to throw acid in her face if she went to police.

“Thankfully she ignored the threats and courageously came to us to report the abuse.

“It cannot be underestimated how difficult this must have been for her and I commend her for her bravery; the result of which is a dangerous man is now behind bars.

“I hope this conviction will allow her to try to move on with her life.”
