THE first plane to be converted into a restaurant is almost ready for take off.

Steaks on a Plane will open in four to six weeks, 10 months after the Boeing aircraft landed in Bolton.

On board, the plane will seat 28 guests, who will be able to watch their food being cooked, which will be from a grill type menu.

The roof of the venue, in Deane Road, opposite the University of Bolton’s Technical College, has been transformed, with the use of LED lights, to look like the sky and decorations from different countries around the world will adorn the cabin.

There will also be the first ever digital advertisement screen erected on the wing of the plane which will showcase 30 businesses, each who will have a 10 second slot.

Young people from Bolton Job Centre have helped to refurbish the half plane, which is owned by business The Steak Out, who employed Bolton firm E-Sparkle Solutions to carry out the main conversion of the plane.

Project manager Ridwan Asmal, of E-sparkle said: "When you enter it people are going to feel like they are inside some celeb style plane.

"We have neon lights and diamonds everywhere, it is brilliant.

"We have transformed lots of quirky things, but never a plane so there have been some challenges.

"But we wanted to make sure we got it right, so we have been back to the drawing board a few times, but it is near enough done now.

"It has been a complete transformation from what it was."

The aircraft was brought from a base in The Cotswolds and took over from the iconic red double decker Steak Out bus, which previously took centre stage on the site.

The opening of the restaurant is expected to be met with a host of special guests and has already been visited by Jamie Vardy lookalike Lee Chapman, who got the first glimpse of the planes interior and got to fit one of the planes window covers.

He said: "I am very excited about launching this project.

"After visiting the plane I can't wait to see the concept finished."
