An award winning ‘Mumpreneur’ has created Asian fashion items for pregnant and nursing women.

Ranjeet Khare launched Bebstyle.com after she struggled to find Asian clothes to wear to family weddings whilst she was pregnant and later breastfeeding.

Ranjeet said, “We had three big family weddings over the course of my pregnancy and during the time I was breastfeeding my baby.

“That’s when I realised the difficulties faced by mums-to-be and new mums.
“I was very conscious of my body in the clothes I wore.

“Like most ladies, I’d always enjoyed picking my Indian outfits and accessorising my look but when the bump and babies came along I felt forgotten.

“I never wanted to just turn up in a maxi dress or feel uncomfortable with a saree that dug into my abdomen or revealed my stubborn post-natal tummy.

“Worse still was wearing something that was two sizes too big just to accommodate my bump.

“Sari’s and shalwar kameez often have embellishment on them which can scratch the baby’s face.

“And when it comes to breastfeeding, it is awkward having to go to the toilets at weddings and remove your top to feed the baby.

Ranjeet continued, “Within the Asian retail sector, no-one caters for pregnant women or new mums.
“That’s when I decided to make a change.”

Bebstyle.com features a wide array of Asian outfits for weddings, parties and day wear. The website also features useful videos that demonstrate how to breastfeed your baby discreetly whilst wearing the outfits.

Bebstyle.com can even custom-make outfits according to your preference.

“Sometimes women aren’t sure of their size during pregnancy, so we ask them to WhatsApp a picture of themselves to us wearing black leggings and a lycra top.
“We will then make suggestions accordingly.

“We are not like other online retailers- there’s an actual voice here where we communicate directly with our customers.”

The on-trend maternity shalwar kameez designs have a matching lycra panel that extends the life cycle of the maternity wear, and the nursing outfits have an added layer of lining to avoid leaking.

Ranjeet added, “The main idea by the fashion line was to make life easy for pregnant women and mums who are breastfeeding.

“All the designs and sizes have been extensively researched and well thought out.”
Ranjeet reveals that when she first took her idea to manufacturers in India and Pakistan, it was men who turned her away.

“They simply weren’t interested in this concept.

“Men were not comfortable talking about breastfeeding and how the body changes when a woman is heavily pregnant.

“Now my full team is made up entirely of women.

“Our designs are sold in the UK, Germany, Canada and America and funnily enough, even in India!”
