A well respected father-of-two died after collapsing outside a school as he waited to pick up his children.

Nazir Ugradar, 42, collapsed with a suspected heart attack outside The Olive School in Bicknell Street, Blackburn.

A nurse, who was passing, attempted to give Mr Ugradar CPR as an ambulance was called. But despite the best efforts of medics, Mr Ugradar passed away at the Royal Blackburn Hospital a short time later.

A spokesman for Blackburn coroner’s office said Mr Ugradar died of natural causes, understood to be a heart attack, so there will be no inquest.

Mr Ugradar, of Charlotte Street, was a ‘role model to many young people’ in Shear Brow.

Cllr Hussain Akhtar, Blackburn with Darwen mayor and close family friend, said: “I am very sorry to hear the news and I am very sorry for his family.

“This is a tragic loss.

“He was a good guy and someone who was well-respected in the community.

“He was a working man with two beautiful daughters, Samira and Amina.”

Mr Ugradar worked as a team leader at the Co-op convenience store and petrol station on Preston New Road for several years.

His colleague Nicky Ashcroft said: “No-one here had a bad word to say about him and he got on well with all the customers.

“He would do anything for you if he could, that was the type of person he was.

“It was very swift. It came as a big shock and we are all saddened by what has happened.

“We’ve had a lot of support off people coming in to the garage after hearing of the news.”

Fellow colleague Imran Jangda said: “He was a very good person and a good man.

“He was caring and we are very shocked about what happened. It all came about all of a sudden and it is very hard to talk about it.”

Mr Ugradar collapsed around 2.45pm on Monday as he was going to pick-up his daughters aged five and seven.

Faz Patel, said: “He was born and bred in Blackburn and was a lovely man who was part of a close knit community in Shear Brow.

“I used to play with him when we were small children.

“It’s awful what has happened especially for his two children.

“A lot of people have been shocked at the news. He was a real role model for a lot of young people.

“He was a very active guy and very devoted to his faith and to his family.

“It just goes to show that life can really be too short.”

Councillor Suleman Khonat said: “He was a very happy man and was very obliging.

“He regularly visited the mosque and was well liked by everyone in the area.

“He was well respected and it is very sad that this has happened.”

Cllr Siraj Valli said: “He was a very humble, kind man.

“We are all very shocked.”
