SCHOOLGIRL Javeriya Ali is on cloud nine – thanks to the kindness of an air stewardess.

The six-year-old left her reading book on a plane as she flew to Marrakesh and thought she would never see it again – but big-hearted Louise Postlewaite found it and returned it to her.

The youngster, who attends Gaskell Primary School in Bolton, had packed the book in her hand luggage as she flew to Marrakesh with her family over the Easter holidays. In her excitement, she accidentally left The Bully, which she had been reading on the plane, as she disembarked.

But her sadness turned to joy earlier this week when a package in a bubble wrap arrived at school containing the book, along with a short note from Louise, the cabin manager for EasyJet.

It reads: “I found this book left by one of your pupils on my flight to Marrakesh a couple of weeks ago. It is sometimes hard to get lost property back so I thought I would post it to school directly. I know it’s only a reading book but the child’s mind can now be put to rest to know it has been returned. I have a five-year-old son myself and know how they worry.”

Javeriya was delighted when she was given the news. She said: “I love reading and I was reading my reading book on the aeroplane with my mum.I felt very sad when I couldn’t find it. After the holidays the headteacher Miss Kirk told me it had come back to school from Marrakesh and I felt very happy.

"My mum is very happy too. Easyjet are so kind and helpful, I have made them a card to say thank you."

Louise, easyJet Cabin Crew Manager based at Manchester, said:“Having five year old son myself, I know how he would worry if he lost his favourite book.

"I’m really pleased to have been able to reunite her with it so it was waiting for her on her return from holiday.

"At easyJet we have a passion for ensuring all our passengers are looked after when they fly with us and I’m glad this story has a happy ending!"

Headteacher Emily Kirk said: “The post arrived and the book was inside. The air stewardess had seen the name of the school inside the book and must have gone on the internet to get the address.

"I asked in the staff room if any of the children had lost a book and one of the teachers knew.

"Javeriya was very upset she had lost the book on holiday and apologised and her mum also came into school to apologise, and we said it was okay.

“I really feel that the lady at Easyjet has gone above and beyond in doing this. I'm also really chuffed that she was taking her reading book on holiday!”
