A mum-of-three has opened her own Beauty Salon 14 years after first offering treatments from her own home.

The area has over a hundred businesses giving it the highest density of Asian-owned businesses in the North West.

The official opening was conducted by Abida’s mum, Naeem Akhtar and attended by close friends and family.
She said, “We wanted to open in the heart of Whalley Range. We wanted to be near to other businesses but also off the main road so women can feel comfortable visiting us.”

Abida said she had seen a huge growth in the number of Asian women taking advantage of services specifically catering for them. The new clinic employs two staff.

“Following the death of my husband I had to raise my children myself so I looked for a change in career.

“I used to work at Age Concern but then took an NVQ level 2 course offered by beautician Helen Todd. I now have an NVQ level 4 in Beauty and have worked for over decade.

“Over the years, there has been a big increase in women, especially Asian women visiting beauty clinics like ours.

“I think they feel more confident to do.”

Abida’s new clinic Beauty Touch specialises in a range of treatments, including Laser and IPL hair removal , Photorejuvenation, IPL acne treatment and Microdermabrasion.

“I would like to thank all my friends and my family for their support. They have motivated me to work harder.”

The shop has been completely refurbished thanks to some expert advice from close friends. “One of my friends – Shama Ashfaq – is an interior designer and she helped me quite a lot as did Omico Designs who did many of the features.”
