Residents will be able to raise their concerns about drugs and neighbourhood policing at a special community event.

'Your Community Your Solutions' will be held in conjunction with CRI Inspire Drug and Alcohol Services and local community group One Voice.

The event aims to also aims to raise important issues such as health checks, organ donation as well as children's activities.

It is being organised to address the concerns raised by local residents to local councillors.

Further discussions will include the use of drugs and alcohol issues in the neighbourhood and anti-social behaviour.

Mansoor Akhtar (pictured), Community Officer at the East Blackburn Team for Sustainable Neighbourhood Services at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council said, "The Your Community, Your Solutions is a positive community engagement event to educate and inform local residents of the range of services that are available to them to improve local levels of community safety, health, resident engagement and youth diversionary opportunities.

"There will be a wide range of partners present on at the event for residents to interact with, including Police, Young Peoples Services, Drug Services Providers, BwD Public Health etc.

Alongside these partner information points, there will also be workshops in community languages, health checks and fun children’s activities."

The event aims to reach as many local people as possible and to increase the community’s knowledge of the available programs and services offered in Blackburn.

Zaheer Mahmud, Head of Operations at One Voice said, "This event is a great opportunity to hear from the heart of the community, directly from the residents what their issue are or what improvements they personally wish to see.

"I would urge members of the community to attend the event and voice their concerns."

The event will take place on Saturday 28th November at St Silas Primary School from 12pm-3pm.
