Students, trade unionists, retirees and many others are traveling to Calais to show solidarity with refugees.

The shocking picture of baby Aylan Kurdi washed up on a Turkish beach epitomises the appalling humanitarian tragedy taking place.

The delegation will be leaving Saturday morning (5th September) from Folkestone at 9.30am to travel through the Channel tunnel to Calais.

They will meet with charities on the ground in Calais to deliver donations and money totalling over £6000. Maz Saleem from Stand Up To Racism said, “ I am completely appalled by our government’s negative attitude towards the refugee crisis. Our brothers and sisters are fleeing persecution, war and seeking refuge for safety. We need to all stand up to racism and help our brothers and sisters.”

As well as the delegation on 5th September 2015, Stand Up To Racism has organised another delegation to Calais on Saturday 17th October 2015. We have also called for a national day of action on Saturday 12th October 2015.
